Special flavour fancies location.

The Mordthal

It is the stone tools and mammoth bones that hint towards mammoth hunting. Hence the name Mord-thal (murder valley). Loess, sand, gravel, partly in a crystalline form, give the soil its special character.

The Rainthal

A south-west slope made of pure loess. That facilitates the flavourful ageing of our Grüner Veltliner.

Roter Veltliner – Mordthal

Roter Veltliner

Mordthal.

The most ancient variety on the Wagram. Mild with orange blossoms. Our diva demands intense foliage work in the vineyard. The rare variety shows complexity, intricacy, potential for laying down and grows on a unique mix of loess and gravel.

Grüner Veltliner

Rainthal.

Only highly-mature grapes are harvested, which give the Grüner Veltliner its maturity and yellow fruity colour with the flavour of quince. Slightly yeasty, smoky, but at the same time tangy and mild. Low acidity, creamy, round. Simply complex and dense. Long-lasting finish with potential for laying down. Grows on southwest-facing loess terraces of several metres in height.

Grüner Veltliner – Mordthal

Grüner Veltliner

Mordthal.

Its power, the unparalleled peppery aroma, the note of tobacco, the tanginess. The Grüner Veltliner owes all these properties to the loess soil with black earth from the Mordthal. This dense complexity of the wine makes for the sublime nature of the location.
